Rail Growth on Track

“The right mode at the right time,” has been a mantra of the Hamilton Port Authority throughout its recent, investment-intensive years. HPA has been taking steps to ensure that port infrastructure keeps pace with modern needs and that port users have robust multimodal access, particularly when it comes to rail.

Two of the port’s most recent investment announcements, the new G3 Canada Ltd. grain terminal, and Parrish & Heimbecker’s expansion, will both feature rail service as a significant operational component.

The growth in the number of rail cars transiting the port has steadily increased over the last five years, from 2,938 in 2011 to 5,414 in 2015. The Port of Hamilton benefits from having service by both CN and CP.
